Uses for Selfdefense

Selfdefense provides an antioxidant and immune support through a comprehensive mechanism*. Nutramins has carefully selected five fruit and plant extracts that contain complimentary antioxidant polyphenols that synergistically may provide a complete antioxidant support to our body. These are Turmeric, Orange, Pomegranate, Elderberry and Capros® (Indian Gooseberry). Turmeric is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family that contains curcuminoids, a polyphenol (linear diarylheptanoid) with strong antioxidant activity*. Orange is a citrus fruit, that in addition to vitamin C, provides significant levels of hesperidin, a polyphenol (biphenyl) that also provides antioxidant benefits along with a healthy inflammatory response.* Pomegranate is a berry fruit and is considered one of the most healthy fruits on Earth. They contain significant quantities of ellagic acid, a polyphenol (dilactone of hexahydroxydiphenic acid) that has strong antioxidant properties*. Elderberry is a dark purple berry and is considered a traditional remedy for colds and flus. They contain anthocyanins, a flavonoid polyphenol, that are well-defined antioxidant compounds*. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin with various health benefits including maintaining cell integrity against oxidative stress *.

 

Capros® is a standardized natural extract of the ultimate superfruit antioxidant, also known as “beauty food”, Indian Gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica). Capros® is a super antioxidant (ORACFN of 47,000 µmoles TE/g), due to its high content of hydrolysable tannins poyphenols.

 

MaitakeGold® is simply the best Maitake extract in the world. In 1984, Dr. Hiroaki Nanba of Kobe Pharmaceutical University (Kobe, Japan) began work with his team on the development of an orally effective, immune enhancing extract derived from Maitake (Grifola frondosa) mushroom. This led to a critical discovery in the late 1990’s when they found inherent in the Maitake extract a substance or “float” that inhibits the immune enhancing properties of the extract. The Nanba team went on to develop a proprietary process to eliminate this substance from the extract, for which Dr. Nanba was awarded a United States patent (5,854,404).

 

Years of rigorous scientific research at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions has shown that MaitakeGold® is one of the most bioactive Maitake extracts yet developed to support immune function*. This was confirmed by a US Government funded human clinical trial performed at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Research Hospital.(Deng, G, et al. 2009)

 

What is the Source

MaitakeGold® by Innophos is derived from a strain of Maitake mushroom fruit body that is cultivated using proprietary techniques. It is then extracted using a proprietary hydro-alcoholic process that was granted a U.S. patent in 1998, creating one of the most comprehensive immune support ingredient available in the dietary supplement category. Capros®, a standardized extract of the ultimate superfruit antioxidant, considered a “beauty food”, Indian Gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica). This branded extract is standardized to at least 22.5% of low molecular-weight hydrolysable tannins. Turmeric extract (Curcuma longa L.) is derived from the ethanolic extraction of turmeric rhizome and is standardized to contain 95% curcuminoids. Orange (Citrus sinensis) fruit extract (Citrus sinensis) is standardized to contain 60% hesperidin. Pomegranate (Punica granatum) fruit extract is standardized to contain 20% ellagic acid. Elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.) fruit extract is standardized to contain 6% anthocyanins.
